Centre d'Information sur les Institutions Européennes

Centre d'Information sur les Institutions Européennes (CIIE)

Created in 1995, the Information Centre on European Institutions (CIIE) is part of the Europe Direct network and is therefore the official information centre of the European Union in Alsace. To accomplish its mission, which is to inform the greater public, the CIIE offices are open to the public from Tuesday to Friday to answer all kinds of questions regarding Europe. To be as close as possible to its audience, the CIIE provides numerous informative activities to teach about Europe: a documentation centre, activities for schools, public lectures, exhibitions, etc.

The documentation centre

Being an official information centre of the European Union, the CIIE provides information about the EU in Alsace. From Tuesday to Friday, it is possible to consult various publications, in different languages, in either hard copy or electronic version in our documentation centre, located on the first floor of our building. A librarian will be available in order to help you with your research or to answer your questions

School activities

It is not always an easy task to inform young people about the European Union, as it is an ever-changing governing body. In order to facilitate the way to teach Europe, the CIIE offers educational activities for different groups of age - from primary school to high school. Thanks to fun activities, such as a scavenger hunt or the game "Eurodéfi", Europe can be discovered in a different, very interactive way

Public lectures and trainings

The CIIE proposes different events adapted to the audience and its specific needs. These conferences are suitable for all audiences: universities, associations, communities... Thanks to a wide range of educational tools, the speakers present various topics in a dynamic and comprehensive way, allowing the listeners to better understand and experience Europe in their daily lives

The "Club Europe"

The CIIE created the Club Europe in 2003, which brings together convinced Europeans ready to share their knowledge with Alsatian citizens. These volunteers, in charge of spreading European information, travel throughout Alsace while offering dynamic and open presentations on key issues affecting the European Union. Seniors, teachers, students or professionals, the diversity of this network makes it possible to promote awareness of Europe among a varied audience: schools, universities, associations, communities, ...

Exhibitions

The CIIE provides various exhibitions at the disposal of Alsatian organisations, if they are interested. Designed by either the CIIE or by European institutions and organisations, they address various topics concerning Europe: the member states of the European Union, Robert Schuman, Europe and water etc.

Information stands

The CIIE is regularly present at different places throughout Alsace, such as Place Kléber, the open day of the European Parliament or the job fair in Colmar, in order to inform the greater public with brochures, games and quizzes or conversations about Europe.

The radio programme "Fréquence Europe"

The CIIE and Radio Judaïca produce the programme "Fréquence Europe" once every two weeks. Located in the Upper Rhine with the headquarters of numerous European institutions, Strasbourg often welcomes personalities who are of great importance to Europe. Every Thursday at 13:30pm and 19:00pm at FM 102.9 in Strasbourg and at 16:00pm at FM 90.2 in Brussels, you can listen to conversations with these people or stream them on the website of Radio Judaïca.
